    Description

    Welcome.
I'm offering for your consideration an exceptionally beautiful turquoise ring by the inestimable Loren Begay. The work is impeccable. The natural turquoise is a rich deep green in colors that seem to be King's Manassa turquoise. Loren Begay uses a tiered double layer of silver for his shanks and his own distinctive stamping on the sides. The elaborate silver work framing the stone is beautiful. The work is done in the best Navajo tradition and several galleries that show Loren Begay's work describe him as Navajo, although Wright says he was Anglo. This ring is signed with his LB offset initials and not with the running horse hallmark he also used. It's a truly stunning ring, measuring approximately 1-1/4" (3.18 cm) long x 1" (2.54 cm) wide on the face. There are two stunning stones and elaborate foliate silver work, typical of Loren Begay's work. I have other rings of his which have this same silver work and which include the running horse in the hallmark. I guarantee it is Loren Begay's work; I've owned a dozen of his pieces and adore his work! This piece has four hand made raindrops and the two oval stones are set in serrated bezel settings. The stones show some wear but nothing endangering the integrity of the work nor interfering with the beautify of the ring. The shank is hand split into three near the face for stability and the shank is thick enough that the ring could be tapped a little large if you wanted. It weighs 30.9 grams in total.  It is size 7. This style elongates the fingers and is flattering to wear. The ring is an example of the expertise of this silversmith. It's a great piece.
Loren Begay is one of my favorite artists. I love his work and it's highly collectible, the best of quality. In this case the stones have a depth of color and beauty that is very rare and arrestingly gorgeous. His silver work is of the quality to honor these wonderful stones and the ring has a lasting beauty that is suitable for the best collections and always a joy to wear. It's hard to take your eyes off this one; it's just gorgeous!

International buyers pay actual shipping cost if I’m shipping myself rather than using eBay’s Global Shipping service, and International buyers are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply. Please discuss changing shipping method prior to purchase. My shipping defaults to Express International, which is tracked and insured, but I can use Priority Mail International. It's less expensive and is also tracked. First Class International is no longer offered by the US Postal Service. I charge the actual shipping cost and since shipping to each country costs a different amount, I will charge a little extra and refund the exact difference once I can put your address in and print a shipping label. I am no longer shipping to Italy and China, but can make exceptions if you speak with me about it, especially if you are a prior customer.

When I include pages from published books in my listings it is in accordance with Fair Use Law, which permits the use of source material for discussion, reference, education and criticism.
Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so in addition to counterchecking, I have developed some expertise over the years and I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.
