This outstanding bolo tie showcases a skillfully crafted gold Phoenix Bird with engraving work all around. The triangular bolo slide that folds back to hold the cord was allegedly designed, and patented by Victor Emanuel Cedarstaff. Vic is known for having invented the bolo tie in the late 1940s, although sterling silver bolo slides and tips have been often linked to the Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi silversmiths.
This collectible piece weighs a total of 71.3 grams. The slide is approximately 1 1/2" tall, by 1 7/8" wide, at its widest. The gold figure applique is about 1" tall, and 14k gold. The roughly 40" long black cord (including the 2 3/4" heavy-gauge tips) is gently used and has some scuffs, but no tears. The weaving is nice and tight.
Light to moderate patina on slide and tips. Superb craftsmanship and design by Cedarstaff!
